Polka Dot Nails

Evening, everyone! Sorry I couldn't think of a more original title for today's post. I really like using unusual colour combinations and I wasn't too sure about how this would turn out, but I love it! I think dotting tools are a necessity to anyone who does nail art, whether you're an expert or just starting out.
I used a base of OPI You Don't Know Jacques! and then a medium sized dotting tool to make this polka dot design in Zoya Caitlin, Quo by ORLY Tease, and OPI Banana Bandanna. These remind me of a banana split, but I'm not sure how the purple fits into that.

Polka dots are a classic look and there are literally endless possibilities for different colour combinations. I also am a big fan of the double accent nail.

What do you think of double accent nails? Do you like the manicure like this, or should I have done my entire hand with the polka dots?

OPI Sprung vs. OPI Warm & Fozzie

Hi everyone! If you read my swatch and review post of part of the Mariah Carey collection, you'll know that upon seeing OPI Sprung I was immediately reminded of OPI Warm & Fozzie from last year's Muppet themed holiday collection. Let's check out some comparison shots of the two!
As you can see these are plainly NOT dupes! I used two coats of Warm & Fozzie to compare with three thin coats of OPI Sprung. The polish from the Mariah Carey collection is much more copper-red toned, whereas the Muppets polish leans brown. This glass-flecked finish is so gorgeous!

Here's a close up for you! One thing I noticed between the two is that Warm & Fozzie appears to be more sparkly.

Here you can see these pretty polishes in the shade, what do you think?

Honestly, these polishes are so different that if this is your type of colour it's definitely worth owning both. These aren't very similar hue-wise, but the finish is gorgeous and is very similar - OPI do gorgeous glass flecks.

Will you be picking up Sprung now that you know that it's not a dupe for Warm & Fozzie?

Happy (Canadian) Thanksgiving!

Good morning everyone! Today is Thanksgiving over here in Canada, so I'm nursing my turkey coma from dinner last night! I've had a really nice Thanksgiving weekend at the cabin with my family and my boyfriend, did anyone else do something fun for the long weekend? Today I have some turkey-themed nails that I just threw on quickly, and it turns out no one in my family could guess what they were. Are they that bad?
I mean, it's just supposed to be the tail feathers of the turkey. I thought it was recognizable.

I used OPI Warm and Fozzie from last year's holiday Muppets collection for the base colour. For the feathers I used OPI You Don't Know Jacques, OPI Suzi Loves Cowboys, OPI Call Me Gwen-ever, OPI Rising Star, and Quo by ORLY Filthy Rich.

The colours stand out better in the shade, but my parents still couldn't recognize that this was supposed to be a turkey.

I hope everyone has had a nice weekend!

Oldschool Duochrome!

Yes, you heard me right, DUOCHROME. Actually..maybe even multichrome! Look at this baby! I got this quite a few years ago and at the time I liked it, put it on, realized it turned brown, and took it off because I thought brown nail polish was horrendous! When I was home this past December/January I dug this little gem up and WOW! It hasn't quite satisfied my lemming for some MariMoons but it'll tide me over until I can buy some.. Let me just warn you now, this is a pic-heavy post. Behold the beauty of Rimmel Zeitgeist!
LOOK AT THAT! Purple/coppery brown goodness.. I'm speechless. And yes, this was indeed ONE COAT. Are you sold yet?

Here it is with the flash looking very purple.
Please please please keep reading for some more pictures, this polish can't be ignored!

Cold & Freezie

Hey guys! Sorry I've been terrible lately about posting, it's crunch time at school, I'm sure you guys are familiar with the end of the semester. This week I've had one of the few OPI Muppets polishes that caught my eye on my nails, and that is Warm & Fozzie! Ironically enough, Montreal got our first snowfall this week which was more Cold & Freezie than Warm & Fozzie, but for now it has all melted away again.
As you can see there's quite a bit of tip wear, it was really hard to wrap my tips well due to the strange consistency of this polish but that's neither here nor there. Warm & Fozzie is a really pretty greeny-coppery-reddy brown, and there is a small duochrome effect in certain lights. What you see in the bottle there is mostly a reflection of my red camera, sorry for being such a tease. This was one of the only colours that interested me from OPI's Holiday collection but I'm not actually as in love with it as I thought I would be. Shown on my nails is two coats and one coat of Seche Vite.
