Lynnderella Connect the Dots

Hello everyone! I thought I'd be doing a new mani everyday this past week since it's Reading Week (the Canadian equivalent of Spring Break), but I've had the flu and can barely get out of bed. Today I am very excited to show you my interpretation of Lynnderella Connect the Dots. I can already hear you asking what I mean by "my interpretation," well take a look..
That doesn't look quite right, does it? Well that's because it's not!

Ladies and Gentlemen, I proudly present to you my submission for Sarah at Chalkboard Nails' Dotting Tool Nail Art Contest! I am dying to win the grand prize of a $25 gift certificate to Llarowe's shop, where I hope to finally get my hands on the real (and very elusive) Connect the Dots! Keep reading for some more photos and to find out more about my design.

Here are the tools I used to create this mani, my dotting tool with the tapered end and a (very dirty from a previous water marble) sewing needle.

I knew I had seen CtD over a bright green somewhere but I couldn't for the life of me remember where. Well after doing the mani I looked it up, and coincidentally enough it was actually on Sarah's very own blog. While she layered hers over OPI Who the Shrek Are You? I used OPI Did It On 'Em from the recent Nicki Minaj collection.

It's too bad you guys can't see this manicure from far away because trust me, it looks like the real deal! I wanted to put a disclaimer on here telling people that I am in no way encouraging people to do this instead of purchasing the actual CtD polish from Lynn, I don't want anyone to get the idea that I'm trying to be cheap and recreate her genius idea. That said, after doing this mani I invite anyone else to try and replicate it because it was painstakingly time consuming to dot out those freaking hexagons. As much as I adore this look I will wait to get my hands on my own bottle of Lynnderella before attempting it again because this was a huge pain in the butt! At least it'll be worth it if I win a prize ;)

I even made my own Lynnderella bottle out of some paper. Too bad my label looks like it says Correct the Dots. The colours I used on my nails for the actual CtD interpretation were OPI Alpine Snow and China Glaze Liquid Leather.

I love the way this looks and I really hope to get my hands on the original soon enough.

Have you guys checked out Sarah's contest? While I would loooove to win a prize, these two ladies have absolutely GORGEOUS submissions. 10 Blank Canvases and Goose's Glitter are two blogs I didn't know about before but after seeing their submissions I am hooked, you need to have a look. You should head on over to Sarah's blog and enter the contest yourself! Please let me know in the comments if you enter, I'd love to check out your design!

*also, quick edit here, I'm submission number 88 which could not be more perfect as that is my lucky number!

  7. Haha, this is gold! Love the concept. You cam console yourself that the extra time it took you to do this will saved in time taking it off. I took off the real connect the dots today and there was a point where I thought I might never be rid of all the glitter!
