V-day Water Marble

Hello everyone, who's excited that it's February? That means the coldest month of the year is over and we can (almost) fast forward to spring! Before posting my Nicki Minaj swatches my top post was my first successful water marble and you can find that post here. I tried doing a Valentine's water marble for you last week but I had troubles with OPI Pink Friday, a colour that shouldn't be left out on Valentine's Day. I got up the courage to try it again this weekend and had lovely results!

I used one layer of OPI Alpine Snow for the base, and in the marble I used Quo by ORLY Red Hot, OPI Alpine Snow, OPI Strawberry Margarita, and Zoya Ashley. I had no problems getting these polishes to spread in the water, unlike when I tried multiple times with Pink Friday. I wonder what it is about the formula that makes it good for water marbling. Keep reading for some more pictures of my V-Day creation!

Here is my unfocused thumbnail which was looking fine until I smudged it! Look at that silly part right there in the middle. I've been staring at it all week.

My elusive right hand. The middle finger sure looks interesting, kind of like a funky french water marble, totally unintentional!

My other (dry) thumbnail!

The view from the door of my apartment, how gross is this weather. It's painful to stand outside taking my pics and there's never any sunlight!

Just for fun :P I know a lot of girls use tape but I kind of like being able to peel it off my fingers in the shower..I know. Weird. Maybe I should have kept that to myself.

If you hadn't noticed the ridiculous smudge on my right ring finger by now, go back and look at it. I did a perfect job marbling that finger, in fact it was my favourite, until I had a small accident with some acetone. Isn't that awful? This is the only picture I captured before the disaster, sigh.
Thanks for reading guys! I hope to do some more water marbling soon!

  3. I just did water marbling today for the first time. I think they turned out pretty cool [http://mykarmakisses.blogspot.com/2012/02/hooray-for-me.html] and I got my Pink Friday to spread, pretty nicely actually. Maybe you should try again? I do agree it shouldn't be left out of the VDay love, lol. I do love the combo that you did use though, it's very pretty.
