OPI The Amazing Spider-Man - Swatches & Review

Hey everyone, I've missed you guys! I am back from my break and you're going to be seeing a lot more of me in the next few months. I thought I'd start things off with a bang, so today I have for you my swatches and review of the OPI The Amazing Spider-Man collection which is set to hit stores this May. I'll be the first to admit I don't know anything about Spiderman, but I know a thing or two about nail polish, so keep reading if you'd like to see what OPI is bringing to us this spring!

This post is extremely picture heavy, but you'd expect no less from a swatch post, right?
Full swatches and review after the jump!
The first shade, and the star of the collection in my opinion, is the eagerly awaited Just Spotted the Lizard. When the promo pics for the collection came out everyone was speculating that it would be a dupe for Chanel Peridot, and it turns out it is! Unfortunately, (or maybe fortunately) I don't own Peridot but a quick google search will lead you to many great comparison posts.
Such a beautiful polish, this is indoor lighting. The application requires two coats for opacity, I probably could have used a third to even out my brush strokes, a small price to pay for such a nice colour though! I know you're probably wondering why I have tip wear, let me just say that this was day three of wearing Just Spotted the Lizard with no top coat, pretty impressive!

These photos are meant to show off the colour shift - gold from straight on.

Green-blue at extreme angles.

Have you ever seen a more beautiful bottle shot?

Wow - look at how it glitters in the sunshine!

The colour shift isn't as visible in direct light, but it's still a beautiful gold colour.

The next colour I have for you guys is Call Me Gwen-Ever, it is a coral leaning orange that doesn't photograph very accurately at all. I would describe this colour as bright, but it doesn't even come close to neon, and it has a certain dusty quality to it. I will have a comparison post of oranges up within a few days.

Looks dark and rich in the shade.

I used two coats for opacity with this polish and the formula was lovely. I don't have much to say about this colour, I'm not a huge orange person but it is nice.

This next colour has caused quite a few heads to turn in the nail polish community, and not necessarily in the good way, Your Web or Mine? is a frosty medium cool pink. From what you may have read on other blogs, you may think this polish is the Antichrist of this collection, but I'll admit that I don't think it's as bad as people have been making it out to be! Sure, it's frosty and it's not the most interesting colour of pink, but it's flattering on me and it was decent to work with. While it's not a colour I would buy for myself, I could see the appeal to someone who was a little more conservative in their lacquer choices.

Sunlight, while my brush strokes aren't perfect, I'd say that I have seen frostier polishes!

What do you think - bad rap or just bad?

Into the Night is a beautiful blue colour that seems to show a bit of blue-blackened blue duochrome in the bottle, though I'm not sure if that's just a trick of the eyes. This one was the sheerest of the collection needing three coats for opacity, but it's very pretty.

Flash!

In the sun it reminds me of Swimsuit, Nailed It! from last year's OPI Miss Universe collection, but I don't own it to compare the two.

See how shimmery it is? It really comes alive in the sunlight!

Another flash photo.

This shade is another one of the most anticipated lacquers from this collection, Number One Nemesis. This colour is hard to describe, it reminds me of a grey version of Warm and Fozzie! I really like this colour, you can see a lot of different shades, while it's mostly grey there are flashes of gold and green.

See all the pretty sparkles that the sunlight brings out?

The final colour in the collection is My Boyfriend Scales Walls, a grey-tinted white creme that has a perfect formula. As I'm sure you've heard before, this polish is easier to wear than a pure white cream and it doesn't look like white out, which is a huge plus! I only needed two coats for opacity and there was no streaking.

What do you think of OPI's The Amazing Spider-Man collection? Which ones are you going to be picking up, and which ones are you leaving behind?

Thanks for reading!

The products in this post were generously provided for review.
